Supporting Pet Health with On-Site Veterinary Laboratory

lab diagnostics

Warm Springs Animal Hospital offers an on-site veterinary laboratory to enhance services and support proper treatment. We use laboratory testing to establish baseline values in healthy pets, to confirm the presence of illness or rule out specific diseases, to monitor progress during certain treatments, and in assessing risk for surgical procedures.

Laboratory Diagnostic Testing

Our veterinarians may order lab tests at your next wellness visit, depending upon your pet’s age, general condition, any symptoms of illness, and breed type. The most common laboratory tests in our veterinary practice include the following:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Urinalysis (UA)
  • Blood chemistry panel
  • Fecal parasite evaluation

Other possible tests and assessments include those for heartworm, feline leukemia, feline immunodeficiency virus, skin scrapings, and cultures. While heartworm disease is not common in our area, pets that travel or are exposed to other infected animals should be tested and given preventives.

Often, laboratory testing is combined with diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, ultrasound, and echocardiography. These additional tests become especially important in evaluating sick pets or those preparing for anesthesia and surgery.

Laboratory testing is essential in identifying many conditions early, before they become serious illnesses. Visit Warm Springs Animal Hospital, for all of your pet’s health care and veterinary medical services needs.
